  'CATS WIN ROUND ONE FROM THE 'DOGS, 4-2!
Wednesday marked the 100th meeting between the rivals

(Portland, ME) - The New Hampshire Fisher Cats completed their first series win of the season, defeating the Portland Sea Dogs, 4-2 on Wednesday afternoon at Hadlock Field in front of 6,977 fans. The ‘Cats took two of the three from the Sea Dogs in the two team’s 100th meeting.

Dustin Richardson (3-1) suffered his first loss since August 7, 2007 while pitching with the Greenville Drive. The lefty worked a season-low four innings, yielding three runs on four hits and four walks. Richardson retired the final eight batters with six coming on strikeouts.

New Hampshire’s Ricky Romero (1-2) notched his first win of the season. He worked five frames on one run and five hits. Jamie Vermilyea pitched 2 and 1/3 scoreless in relief and Sean Stidfole earned his second save by recording the final five outs.

The Sea Dogs had 10 hits but went 3-for-14 with runners-in-scoring position. Jeff Corsaletti and Sandy Madera went 2-for-5 with an RBI apiece. Sean Danielson had three hits and scored a run - Mark Wagner added two hits and reached base three times.

New Hampshire took a 2-0 lead in the first inning - scoring both runs with two outs. Jacob Butler lined an RBI single inside the first-base bag and Josh Kreuzer provided a run-scoring double off the Maine Monster.

Corsaletti cut the deficit at half in the bottom of the first inning with an RBI double but New Hampshire came right back to score in the second inning (Chris Gutierrez RBI single). The Fisher Cats fourth run came on a bases loaded walk in the sixth.

Portland scored a run in the ninth inning on Madera's RBI single but Aaron Bates popped out to end the game.

Notes...Sandy Madera has hit safely in all seven starts with the Sea Dogs...Hunter Jones worked two scoreless innings to lower his ERA to 1.42...Aaron Bates extended his hitting streak to eight with an infield single in the fourth.
