PORTLAND SWEPT FOR THE FIRST TIME, LOSE 3-1 IN BOWIE!
Bowie's last sweep of Portland at Prince George's Stadium came on May 13-15, 2005

(Bowie, MD) - Brad Bergesen (2-0) worked eight strong innings on six hits and one run as the Bowie Baysox completed a 3-game sweep of the Portland Sea Dogs 3-1 on Thursday afternoon at Prince George's Stadium.

Julio Manon pitched a perfect ninth to earn his seventh save and his third of the series. Manon was perfect in the series and recording four strikeouts.

Matt Goodson (1-1) lasted only four innings to take the loss for Portland. The righty yielded six hits, three runs, three walks and fanned two.

Mickey Hall provided the lone run for the Sea Dogs, blasting a solo homer off Bergesen to tie the game at one in the third inning. Hall went 2-for-3 on the day and is 3-for-7 in four games with the Sea Dogs - two of his hits are home runs.

Bowie had run-scoring doubles by Lou Montanez and Nolan Reimold. Reimold's two-bagger in the fourth inning proved to be the game-winning RBI. Sebastien Boucher knocked in the final run with an infield single in the fourth.

Mike James (2 IP), Chad Rhoades (1 IP) and Beau Vaughan (1 IP) combined to pitch four scoreless frames on three hits and four strikeouts. Both Rhoades and Vaughan induced double-play balls to end their innings. Bowie turned four double plays, including one on Sean Danielson to end the top of the eighth.

The Sea Dogs have lost three straight for the first time this season and continue their 6-game roadtrip on Friday night in Trenton.
